Worship. A word our culture doesn't use much except to describe some fan's adoration for Paris Hilton or Ben Affleck or whoever the latest celebrity is that we are supposed to admire. Worship is about admiration, but worship at North Harbor is about admiring God and what he has done in our lives.
Music, candles, images projected onto a screen, drama, movie clips, incense, prayer stations, and liturgy are some examples of exercises that serve to help us enter into public admiration of our God with all of our senses. Some weeks it may be a chorus that strikes you, or an image used in tandem with the teaching. Other weeks it might be a time of silent prayer or video clip that captures your spiritual attention. Whatever it is that helps you enter into admiration for the God we serve is worship. And North Harbor wants to make room for as many of these moments of mystery as possible because these are the times when we meet God, and when we meet God, we are changed. |
