Greeters are those friendly people who have an endless supply of genuine smiles and get the biggest kick out of making your day. You've probably run into them before at the grocery store or the video rental place or at the park. They can't imagine passing by a stranger without saying "hello" and would sooner stand in the cold for hours than miss a chance to hold open a door or shake a hand.
